Simile

Rivalries-Spring In January

Separated frowns.
Dangle across the horizon.
But then the sun comes up.
Causing them to collide into each other.
Depression, sadness, hatred and sorrow.
All of these things, I do not feel when I see your smile.
When you smile at me, when our hands are held.
Up come flowers, up come flowers.
I'm sorry your so perfect.
Walking every morning, every memory.
(All of these things)
Tracks are fun, but we walk them.
I live in your smile,
I breathe in your eyes.
Our hands and our hearts,
beat together like a perfect sunrise.
I'm only 17, I promise forever.
Keep saying you miss me and
I will stop hating the east coast.

This song by the new band Rivalries, was written by lead singer and song writter Shane Himalman. At the age of seventeen he feels as though he has seen alot of different things and feels he should share what he's found with the world. Although the second line of the song has become popular due to it's sexually explicit message, it actually reffers to the moon and how it appears to just sway. The only real simile is "our hands and our hearts beat togather like a perfect sunrise" This is comparing their relationship to that of how beautiful a sunrise can be. Also, how wonderful and how this relationship is the only sure thing in his life, like the sunrise.

Narrative- Vermillion by Slipknot

She seems dressed in all the rings

Of past fatalities
So fragile yet so devious
She continues to see it
Climatic hands that press

Her temples and my chest
Enter the night that she came home
Forever

Oh (She's the only one that makes me sad)

She is everything and more
The solemn hypnotic
My Dahlia bathed in possession
She is home to me
I get nervous, perverse, when I see her it's worse
But the stress is astounding
It's now or never she's coming home
Forever

Oh (She's the only one that makes me sad)

Hard to say what caught my attention
Fixed And crazy, Aphid Attraction
Carve my name in my face, to recognize
Such a pheromone cult to terrorize

I won't let this build up inside of me
I won't let this build up inside of me
I won't let this build up inside of me
I won't let this build up inside of me

(Yeah!)

I'm a slave, and I am a master
No restraints and, unchecked collectors
I exist through my need, to self oblige
She is something in me, that I despise

I won't let this build up inside of me
I won't let this build up inside of me
I won't let this build up inside of me
I won't let this build up inside of me

I won't let this build up inside of me
I won't let this build up inside of me
I won't let this build up inside of me
I won't let this build up inside of me

SHE ISN'T REAL!
I CAN'T MAKE HER REAL!
SHE ISN'T REAL!
I CAN'T MAKE HER REAL!

(She isn't real, I can't make her real)
(She isn't real, I can't make her real)

This song tells the story of a girl that is so perfect, but then realizing that she isn't real and there's nothing that he can do to change that. This song relates to my topic because its metal and it talks about the anger and depression that he feels because the fact that his dream girl is just that, a dream.
